Oizo Wellness Collective is a small women's health practice in Lafayette that Dr. Fashho started with another OB/GYN after both spent years working as hospital OB doctors. She is also board certified in obesity medicine and spent three years as a clinician for Weight Watchers, and weight and metabolism run through most of the care here. The practice is clear that it does not replace your OB/GYN, and it asks you to keep that doctor for Pap smears and mammograms. A first hormone visit is a long workup with lab testing, and you come back for a separate visit where the physician goes through the results and sets a plan. There is a named track for breast cancer survivors and for women who would rather avoid hormones, built around non-hormonal options and bone health. Visits are booked online, and the hormone and weight consultations both have telehealth versions.
Ashley Romero Parich is a physician assistant at Acadiana Women's Health Group, an OB/GYN practice in Lafayette with nine physicians and four advanced practice providers. She grew up in nearby Abbeville, has worked in OB/GYN since 2007, and joined this group in 2016. She sees women of all ages, and her own listed care runs from prenatal visits and annual exams to contraception, osteoporosis screening and treatment, and hormone replacement therapy. What sets her apart in a general OB/GYN office is her hormone training, since she is a certified women's hormone therapy specialist and a member of The Menopause Society. Visits are in person at the Ambassador Caffery office, although the practice offers telemedicine appointments by request. New patients download the practice forms and send them back two days before the first visit.
Taylor Mahtook is a physician assistant with Our Lady of Lourdes Physician Group in Lafayette, where she sees women for primary care and works in the group's menopause clinic. The clinic calls itself the region's first multi-discipline menopause service and takes patients from age 15 up, with a gynecologist, a nurse practitioner and a dietitian working in the same building. Both hormone and non-hormone treatment for perimenopause and menopause are offered there, labs are drawn on site, and new patients can book with her online. Mahtook also manages the long-running conditions that often sit alongside midlife hormone changes, such as thyroid disease, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. She came to women's health after working in urgent care clinics and an emergency department. She asks patients to write down their questions before a visit, and says a good history and real listening get her most of the way to a diagnosis.
