Taylor C. Mahtook

Taylor Mahtook is a physician assistant with Our Lady of Lourdes Physician Group in Lafayette, where she sees women for primary care and works in the group's menopause clinic. The clinic calls itself the region's first multi-discipline menopause service and takes patients from age 15 up, with a gynecologist, a nurse practitioner and a dietitian working in the same building. Both hormone and non-hormone treatment for perimenopause and menopause are offered there, labs are drawn on site, and new patients can book with her online. Mahtook also manages the long-running conditions that often sit alongside midlife hormone changes, such as thyroid disease, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. She came to women's health after working in urgent care clinics and an emergency department. She asks patients to write down their questions before a visit, and says a good history and real listening get her most of the way to a diagnosis.
